This is a simple and affordable smoke stopper, to help prevent disaster when powering on your quadcopter for the first time if there is a short.
The first time you power your drone is often called the "smoke test". If everything powers up fine, you've passed, if not, you may encounter the dreaded magic smoke followed by a bunch of damaged burnt out parts on your quad. Well if you use this smoke stopper on your first power up it will help prevent this from happening thanks to the internal fuse. Compared to standard smoke stoppers, this Smoke Stopper offers a much lower trip and hold currents, as well as faster reaction time. We also provide a wider variety of input voltages and in- & output connectors than any other smoke stopper!
How to read the LED on your Smoke Stopper
The Smoke Stopper limits current to protect your electronics during first power-up. The LED tells you what’s happening:

LED ON (bright) – Circuit OK
No short detected. Safe to continue. -
LED DIM – Fuse tripped / over-current
Something is drawing too much current. Unplug, check wiring, then retry after 10–30 seconds. -
LED OFF – Short circuit
A hard short is present. Unplug immediately and inspect for wiring or solder issues.
Tip: Smoke stoppers are for initial testing only. Motors and high-power devices may not run normally while it’s connected.
