Skyzone RD945 Diversity Receiver: Because One Antenna is Lonelier than a Spotter with No Friends
Welcome to the RD945, the 48-channel diversity receiver for those of us still clinging to analog like it’s a vintage vinyl collection. While the digital elitists are busy updating their firmware for the third time today, you could be flying. This dual-receiver setup automatically picks the strongest signal, because let's face it, your piloting skills need all the help they can get. We’re based in the UK, so we know a thing or two about flying in grey, signal-blocking drizzle.
Why You Want It
Diversity isn't just a corporate buzzword; in FPV, it's the difference between seeing the gate and seeing a screen full of "snow" while your quad makes a permanent home in a cow pasture. The RD945 switches between its two receivers faster than you can say "I think I lost video." It’s reliable, it’s classic, and it doesn't require a mortgage to replace when you inevitably step on it.
The Nitty Gritty Specs
- Frequency: 5.8GHz (The sweet spot for not interfering with your garage door opener)
- Channels: 48CH (Bands A, B, C, D, H, L - yes, including Raceband for the actual pilots)
- Sensitivity: <-90 dBm (It can hear a signal whisper from across the field)
- Power Supply: 12V DC / 200mAh (Don't try to power it with a potato)
- Antenna Impedance: 50 Ohm
- Antenna Connector: RP-SMA (The one with the hole—check your antennas twice, buy once)
- Antenna Gain: 2 dBi (Stock sticks included, but we both know you’ll upgrade them)
- Dual Output: 2x Video (1.0Vp-p 75Ω) and Audio (1.0Vp-p 10KΩ) (One for your goggles, one for your DVR to record your shame)
- Format: PAL / NTSC (It’s bilingual)
- Dimensions: 80 x 65 x 15 mm (Small enough to velcro to your forehead)
- Weight: 85g (Lighter than a pack of Jaffa Cakes)
In the Box
- 1x Skyzone RD945 Receiver
- 2x Stock Dipole Antennas
- 1x Power and AV Cable set
Compatibility
If it transmits on 5.8GHz analog, the RD945 will catch it. It’s the universal safety net for your video link, compatible with everything from your tiny whoop to that long-range wing you’re too scared to fly.
Highlights
- Diversity Switching: Smart enough to choose the antenna that isn't currently blocked by your own body.
- 48 Channel Coverage: Covers all the standard bands so you can fly with your mates without screaming "Who's on Channel 4?!"
- Easy Interface: Two buttons. Even you can handle two buttons.
Notes
The RD945 requires a stable 12V source. If you feed it 6S directly, you will see magic smoke, and smoke doesn't transmit video very well.
Disclaimer
Does not include talent. If you fly into a tree, that's on you, not the receiver. Use responsibly in the UK.

You're actually reading the bottom of the page? You must be a bot or really bored. Either way, stop overthinking your signal-to-noise ratio and just buy the thing. Your ground station is looking naked and your goggles deserve better.
