T-Hobby Velox Stack: F7 Power, Betaflight Handcuffs
Share
Painless360 took a look at the T-Hobby Velox F7 SE flight controller and V70A ESC stack, paired with F60 Pro V motors. It's a combo meant for performance without annihilating your budget, featuring an STM32F722 MCU, an ICM42688 IMU, and enough ESC current to worry your insurance provider (70A continuous, supposedly). It even has Bluetooth, because plugging in a USB cable is apparently too much effort these days.
There is a catch, however. The flight controller only supports Betaflight right now. If you require iNav or ArduPilot for actually reliable GPS return-to-home—as opposed to Betaflight's 'hope-it-works' approach—this hardware is effectively a very pretty paperweight for your autonomous needs. T-Motor needs to sort the firmware targets out.
The hardware is solid, and the value is undeniable for test rigs or 6S beaters. But until the software support catches up, its utility is limited for anything requiring serious navigation. Decide if you prefer cheap power over proven autonomy. Read the full breakdown here.
