FlySky PR01 ELRS Receiver on a circuit board background

FlySky's ELRS Receiver: Small, Cheap, and a Bit... Finicky.

Well, look what the cat dragged in. FlySky, a name you probably associate with... other things, has decided to grace the ExpressLRS ecosystem with its presence. Their opening act is the PR01: a receiver that's impressively small, reassuringly cheap, and packs dual antennas. It seems they're finally taking this whole ELRS thing seriously. About time.

On paper, it's all rather sensible. 1.2 grams, 100mW, and antenna diversity. The catch? It uses those flat antennas that people either swear by or swear at. We're not here to judge your life choices. What we will judge, however, is the initial user experience. As our friend Painless360 discovered, getting the Wi-Fi update to play nice is currently a bit of a... challenge. Consider it a character-building exercise.

Ultimately, FlySky's entry into the ELRS arena is a net positive. More choice is rarely a bad thing, even if it comes with a few early quirks. It means more competition, more innovation, and hopefully, less of a dent in your bank account when you inevitably crash. For a more detailed look at the PR01's teething problems, you can watch the full breakdown right here. Go on, you know you want to.

The verdict? The PR01 is a promising little nugget of hardware that’s currently let down by some software shenanigans. It's one for the shortlist, especially for small builds, but perhaps not one to install the night before a big race. If you're the sort who enjoys reading specifications instead of just looking at the pictures, you can find our full, in-depth analysis over here. Don't say we never give you anything.
