DeepSpace Seeker3 drone flying over a green landscape

DeepSpace Seeker3: The Gist

Another three-inch quad hits the market promising the world. Except this one, the DeepSpace Seeker3, might actually deliver. It’s a GPS-equipped micro that combines proper punch with flight times that don't end the moment you start having fun. Our man Nick Burns took it for a spin to see if the hype was, for once, justified.

The big question: can it stay under 250g? Yes, if you choose your battery wisely. An 850mAh flat pack gets you there with around eight and a half minutes of airtime. If you couldn't care less about the fun police, slap on a 3000mAh Li-ion and go make a cup of tea while it cruises for over 14 minutes. It’s got options, is what we’re saying.

It flies like a proper quad, not a glorified whoop that's scared of a stiff breeze. The 1505 motors have some grunt, and it’s happy being thrown around. The GPS works, which is the main thing, though you might want to power it up while you're getting your goggles on—cold starts are a bit... leisurely. Still, it finds its way home, which is more than can be said for some of us after a long night.

So, is it perfect? Of course not. A couple of 3D printed bits could use a wrap of tape. But for a quad that delivers on performance, endurance, and the peace of mind of GPS rescue, the Seeker3 is surprisingly competent. If you're tired of choosing between flight time and fun, Nick's full breakdown is worth a read. You can find all the gritty details and flight footage in the full review.
