BetaFPV Aquila20 HD: The Gist

So, you want digital FPV, but your bank account has suggested you take up a cheaper hobby, like geology. BetaFPV seems to have noticed. Their Aquila20 HD kit delivers a crisp 1080p feed using something called ArtLink, which is a clever way of saying 'not a proprietary system that locks you in forever.' That alone is reason enough to pay attention.

The good news: the picture is clean, the assisted hover mode is forgiving for anyone whose thumbs are still in training, and the goggles are surprisingly comfortable. The bad news? Its sensors get a bit dizzy above three metres, the hefty battery makes it about as agile as a wheelie bin, and there’s no onboard recording. All your footage comes from the goggles, so what you see is literally what you get.

Ultimately, it’s a trainer. A very specific one. It’s for beginners who value a clear picture and an open ecosystem over blistering performance. If you want to learn how to fly without staring at a blizzard of analogue static, this is a solid start. If you want to pull off cinematic dives, perhaps look elsewhere. For an almost unreasonable amount of detail, our full, unabridged review has you covered right here.
