Why the Vista Has Not Disappeared
The Caddx Vista Digital HD System looks misplaced beside O4 in our catalogue. It weighs 29g with its camera, has no onboard recorder and belongs to DJI’s first digital FPV generation. Yet replacing it is not always an upgrade.
The reason is compatibility. Vista works with DJI FPV Goggles V1 and V2, plus Goggles 2 and Goggles Integra after the relevant firmware updates. It does not bind to Goggles 3 or Goggles N3. O4 Lite reverses that dead end: it supports Goggles 3, N3, Goggles 2 and Integra, but not the original V1 or V2 goggles.
That makes the goggles, not the camera specification, the first question. If your bench already has V2 goggles and several Vista quads, a replacement Vista avoids changing the whole fleet. If you are starting from zero, buying into the older branch makes little sense.

The weight difference is not cosmetic. Moving from 29g to 8.2g releases more than 20g on a small quad, while O4 Lite adds usable onboard recording. For a fresh 2-inch, 3-inch or lightweight 4-inch build, we would not pay that weight penalty for Vista.
The One Electrical Detail That Can Change the Answer
Vista accepts 2S-6S input, so it can run from a 6S battery when installed correctly. The DJI O4 Lite Air Unit stops at 13.2V. On a 4S or 6S quad it therefore needs a flight-controller BEC that stays within DJI’s input range and has enough current headroom.
This is where a quick “O4 is newer” swap can become a rewiring job. Check the FC’s HD-VTX output before ordering, and do not connect O4 Lite directly to 4S or 6S battery voltage.
