Voltara Gen 2: Betaflight Compatibility, Less Smoke
Teilen
Voltara ESCs used to be exclusive to KISS Ultra, which was lovely if you enjoyed being locked into a highly specific ecosystem. The Gen 2 firmware update changes that, bringing Betaflight and iNav compatibility to the same 70A and Mini 50A hardware. It’s the same silicon, just with fewer limitations and significantly less fuss.
Aside from support for DShot up to 2400, the actual highlight is the built-in protection. The firmware now features active safeguards like stalled rotor detection and motor winding short detection. In short, it attempts to stop your overly long motor screws from turning your expensive ESC into a brief, tragic smoke machine.
If you already own a legacy Voltara ESC, you can migrate to Gen 2 via a somewhat precise two-stage flashing process. Just ensure you are using a supported Betaflight version and have actually powered the ESC, unless you enjoy troubleshooting connection errors in the dark.
