The Current Compatibility Matrix
DJI lists N3 for Avata 2, Neo and the O4 Air Unit Series; DJI's Neo 2 support page also lists both headsets. Goggles 3 adds O3 Air Unit, Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro support on compatible current firmware. This matrix separates video from control, because an ELRS receiver is not part of the goggles link.

What We Would Buy
For Avata 2, Neo, Neo 2 or a new O4-only build, N3 is the practical value choice, especially for glasses wearers. For custom FPV, existing O3 aircraft or the sharper 100Hz view, we would buy Goggles 3. Do not choose N3 in the hope that a future firmware release will add O3.
Both headsets work with an O4-equipped BNF such as the Pavo20 Pro II. Its ELRS receiver remains the control link; the goggles receive video. The DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 is only needed if you choose DJI control rather than a separate receiver.

Can Goggles N3 connect to an O3 Air Unit?
No current DJI compatibility list includes O3 support for N3. Goggles 3 is the option for both O3 and O4.
Which headset has better range?
The headset is not the deciding factor. With Avata 2, DJI publishes 13km FCC and 10km CE for both. For custom builds, DJI publishes 8km CE for O4 Pro/Wide and 6km CE for O4. These unobstructed test limits are not practical or legal flight targets.
Can I use ELRS with either headset?
Yes. The O3 or O4 system carries video while your ELRS receiver and radio carry control. Configure and test each link separately.
