This is the Tyrant 180 FPV racing quadcopter V1.2 designed for the avid FPV racing pilot in mind to be tough, lightweight and intuitive. The best part is that this kit includes a stock Naze 32 flight controller to make modding and setting things up a breeze if you are familiar with the most popular miniquad flight controller in the world.
Note: This is the version 1.2 with 202x BLHeli_S ESCs. The V1.2 comes with everything that the V1.1 does including motor protection mounts (which are now black) - the difference is in the ESCs.
For starters, the Tyrant series of FPV quadcopters are made to withstand just about any series crash with its super thick 4mm laminated single piece bottom frame. Being tough is an important thing to consider with your FPV quadcopter, but having something over engineered makes it heavy and slow. We found that 4mm carbon fiber is just about indestructible under the own weight of the quadcopter , all the corners are smoothed to spread any loads on your frame during a crash to reduce the change of anything cracking or snapping. Furthermore the base frame is a cut from a single piece of carbon fibre to further reduce the stress points as there are new screw holes attaching the arms to the main central body, which is often a point of breakage during a crash.
Its great to have an integrated PDB on your FPV quadcopter to route power to your ESC's and FPV gear and batteries. This makes it neat and easy to connect up all of your gear when space is already limited on a miniquad. However because carbon fiber is conductive all PCB bottom plates are made from fiberglass which is not as strong. However the Tyrant 180 series gives us the best of both as the baseplate is a composite PCB giving the strength of carbon fiber but with the versatility of a PCB.
No more naze32 compatible, or custom flight controller. The Tyrant series includes a totally standard Naze32 Rev6b flight controller running Cleanflight. Its tried and tested and there is also loads of documentation and tutorials available to show you exactly how to modify it, no more guessing what each pin does. Just connect your R/C receiver and set it up in Cleanflight you can go flying!
You cant have a FPV quadcopter without any FPV gear! The Tyrant series includes a 600TVL FPV camera mounted on an adjustable mount allowing you to change the angle to suit your flying style. Coupled at on the rear of the Tyrant 180 racing quadcopter is a 200mw 40CH Raceband FPV transmitter coupled with a circular polarized antenna to ensure you get excellent video signal. Furthermore the transmitter is mounted directly and securely to the top plate to avoid any connectors snapping off if you crash, something that happens on inferior racing quadcopter kits.
For FPV racing the motors are undoubtedly the biggest factor that dictates your quadcopter performance. Every Tyrant 180 quadcopter includes 4 motors built by DYS which are one of the leading manufacturers in high performance brushless motors with reliability to match.
