The C.R.A.P whoop was first released as part of the November C.R.A.P Box, but due to its popularity as a 1S Brushless Whoop, we have decided to release it as a kit directly.  You may ask why this whoop is more expensive than the C.R.A.P Box, and the truth is, we do not make any money with our subscription box, we use it more as a creative way to market our company and products by providing genuine value in a mystery box each month.

This quadcopter kit arrives as a kit and requires assembly.

This is a 1S brush-less whoop designed to give you the best possible tiny experience, despite the fact that is is 1S, it still packs pleanty of punch and is good enough for acro flying and even outdoor flying.

What is in the kit

  • 1x 65x brushless whoop frame
  • 1x 65c canopy
  • 4x 0603 1S brushless motors
  • Beecore bl 1s flight controller
  • HCF9 AIO VTX and 700TVL Camera

What do you still need?

  • 1s HV battery around 300mAh
  • R/C receiver (Fli10, or Frsky XM)

1 review for C.R.A.P Whoop Kit

I bought the kit in December’18 and waited until now (May’19) to leave a review because i wanted to get a lot of time in the air with it to give a rounded review.

It’s a nice kit to build but you will need to be somewhat experienced where soldering is concerned (Rx + Vtx) The pads are very small so don’t be on them too long. I accidentally desoldered a component near the Vtx pads – Solder splatter, tried to remove it and off it came. My own fault for not keeping the tip clean! I ordered another FC and UMT sent it super quick as they always do.

I have run at least 80 packs through it and all is well. It needs a bit of a tune out the box because the Betaflight stock pids are not quite suitable – Which is common.

The props that come with the kit are great, No issues with them. UMT also stock some blue 31mm props which are also very good if you prefer the white/blue look over the white/red.

The motors have performed flawlessly, I have never felt them get hot, They barley get warm at all when ripping around.

The camera is as expected really. I will say its a very good night cam! I fly in my street and the lamp posts give off more than enough light. Its borderline night vision. That said, the brightness and contrast are set quite high, which explains the night vision, Day time flying is kinda bright but you can adjust in your goggles to suit no doubt.

The frame is nice and strong, I have had a few heavy crashes and its not done any damage. The original frame has just started to show the tell tale white stress lines in a couple of places, so when that starts i replace the frame. Better to replace early than be half way through a whoop session only to quit because of a snapped frame! Preventative maintenance 😉

My only complaint would be the canopy and camera housing. They were trimmed badly and the lens hole needed reaming out more but thats just being picky. I resorted to lightly gluing the cam to the cam housing to make it easier when fitting to the canopy. It can be tricky and the screws are small enough to disappear if you blink.

Overall its been very reliable, No motor, Vtx or FC failures even after some hard crashes. The whoop is fast outside when you push it and can fly slow and steady enough in the house. I have flown it outside in 20 mph gusts and it can just about handle it. Flying in a light breeze doesn’t bother it at all.

I would certainly recommend this whoop!
